Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding Eyes Shipyard in Andhra Pradesh

Japan’s largest shipbuilder, Imabari Shipbuilding, is exploring the possibility of setting up a shipyard in Andhra Pradesh, India. This move aligns with India's push for maritime infrastructure development and could boost the Make in India initiative.

Imabari Shipbuilding, known for constructing large container ships and bulk carriers, is evaluating Andhra Pradesh’s coastline for its strategic location and port connectivity. If finalized, the project could bring advanced shipbuilding technology, job creation, and investment opportunities to the state.

The proposed shipyard would strengthen India-Japan economic ties and enhance India’s shipbuilding capabilities, making it a key player in the global maritime sector.
