India's Epic Tricolour Reply To Khalistani Supporters In London
On August 15, 2021, India celebrated its 75th Independence Day. The occasion was marked with great pride and joy across the country, as well as by Indian communities around the world. However, in London, a group of Khalistani supporters attempted to disrupt the festivities by hoisting a separate flag at the Indian High Commission. Khalistan is a separatist movement seeking an independent state for Sikhs in Punjab, India. Despite being outlawed by the Indian government, some Khalistani groups continue to operate in various parts of the world, including in the UK. In response to the provocative act, a group of Indian diaspora members in London came together to display a massive Indian tricolour flag. The flag, measuring 18 feet by 12 feet, was unfurled at the iconic Trafalgar Square in the heart of London.
