The bridge, officially known as the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, was constructed to reduce travel time and ease traffic congestion between the western suburbs and the island city of Mumbai. The project was completed in 2009 after nine years of construction and cost around 16 billion rupees. The bridge's design is unique, featuring precast segments joined together by high-strength epoxy resin.
