Apple transported five planes full of iPhones and other products from India to the US, to avoid Trump tariffs

In a strategic move to sidestep impending tariffs on Chinese-made goods, Apple recently airlifted five cargo planes loaded with iPhones and other high-demand products from India to the United States. This shift underscores Apple’s growing reliance on its Indian supply chain as geopolitical tensions and trade policies continue to reshape global manufacturing routes.

The move comes amid renewed discussions in Washington around reinstating tariffs on Chinese electronics, a policy strongly advocated by former President Donald Trump during his administration. With the possibility of such measures returning, Apple is accelerating efforts to diversify its production base away from China.

India, which has been steadily climbing the ranks as a manufacturing hub for Apple, now produces a growing share of iPhones thanks to partnerships with major suppliers like Foxconn and Tata Electronics. By leveraging this supply chain, Apple not only reduces exposure to Chinese tariffs but also strengthens its footprint in a key emerging market.

This airlift operation is seen as a sign that Apple is prepared to act swiftly to mitigate political and economic risks—ensuring uninterrupted product flow into the U.S. market.
