Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti granted bail in land-for-job scam case

Lalu Prasad, former Chief Minister of Bihar, his wife Rabri Devi, and their daughter Misa Bharti were granted bail in the land-for-job scam case on Monday, March 13th.

The case dates back to 2006 when Lalu was the Railway Minister. He allegedly granted two railway hotels in Ranchi and Puri to a private firm in exchange for prime land in Patna. The CBI had filed a charge sheet against Lalu and his family members in 2017.

The three accused had already been granted bail in other cases related to the fodder scam and the IRCTC scam. Lalu, who has been suffering from various health issues, had been in jail since December 2017.

The granting of bail to the accused has been met with mixed reactions. While supporters of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the political party founded by Lalu, have welcomed the move, others have criticized it as a failure of the justice system.

It is important to note that the granting of bail does not mean that the accused have been acquitted of the charges against them. The case will continue in court, and the accused will have to appear for hearings and follow other legal procedures.

The land-for-job scam case is just one of the many corruption cases that Lalu and his family have been embroiled in over the years. The verdict, in this case, will be eagerly awaited by both supporters and detractors of the RJD.
