Successful Prisoner Exchange: 100 Russian Prisoners Freed in UAE-Mediated Agreement

 


In a significant development aimed at fostering diplomatic ties and promoting humanitarian efforts, a prisoner exchange agreement between Russia and Ukraine has been successfully executed. Facilitated by mediation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the exchange involved the release of 100 Russian prisoners in exchange for an equal number of Ukrainian detainees.

The exchanged prisoners, predominantly Russian servicemen, will be transported to Moscow, where they will receive comprehensive medical and mental healthcare. This initiative underscores the commitment to ensuring the well-being of individuals who have experienced the hardships of captivity.

This recent exchange builds upon the momentum generated by a previous swap on January 31, where 207 Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) returned home from Russian captivity.
