India Launches BIMReN to Foster Regional Research Collaboration

In a significant stride towards regional academic collaboration, the Government of India has initiated the BIMSTEC Research Network (BIMReN), aimed at facilitating doctoral research opportunities for scholars from BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) countries within India’s academic landscape.

BIMSTEC, comprising Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, represents a dynamic region with immense potential for cross-border cooperation in various spheres, including academia. Recognizing the importance of nurturing scholarly exchanges among member nations, the Indian government’s initiative seeks to harness the collective intellectual capital for mutual growth and development.

Through BIMReN, India opens its doors to PhD students from BIMSTEC countries, offering them access to its rich academic resources and research infrastructure. This initiative not only enhances academic mobility but also fosters cross-cultural understanding and strengthens the bonds of friendship and cooperation among participating nations.
