UAE Evacuates 210 Patients from Gaza in Cooperation with WHO
In a significant humanitarian effort, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), successfully evacuated 210 patients from Gaza. The flight, which departed from Ramon Airport in Israel and crossed through the Kerem Shalom crossing, carried 86 critically wounded patients, including children and cancer patients requiring specialized care, along with 124 family members. This marked the UAE’s twenty-second evacuation mission to bring urgent medical relief to the Palestinian people.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, the UAE’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organizations, emphasized the strong cooperation between the UAE and WHO in this effort, reflecting the country’s ongoing commitment to providing aid to the Palestinians amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Al Shamsi affirmed the UAE’s steadfast support for Palestinians, stating that the nation would continue to lead efforts in providing advanced healthcare and relief.
This initiative is part of the broader mission launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President, to treat 1,000 wounded children and 1,000 cancer patients, ensuring access to life-saving treatment in UAE hospitals. Since the mission began in December 2023, over 2,100 patients and their families have been safely evacuated.
In addition to evacuation efforts, the UAE has established a field hospital in southern Gaza, which has treated over 50,000 cases, and a floating hospital stationed at Al-Arish Port, which has provided care to over 6,000 patients since its launch. Over 43,000 tonnes of aid, including food, medical supplies, and relief materials, have been delivered to Palestinian people, underscoring the UAE's dedication to alleviating the suffering in Gaza.
