Indore Garment Traders Stop Accepting UPI Payments Amid Cyber Fraud Concerns

Garment traders in Indore have collectively decided to halt payments through Unified Payments Interface (UPI), citing a surge in cyber fraud cases. This decision follows repeated incidents where traders fell victim to fraudulent transactions, causing financial losses and eroding trust in the digital payment system.

While UPI has revolutionized digital payments in India with its ease and convenience, these traders argue that the increasing sophistication of cyber scams has exposed vulnerabilities in the system. Fraudsters often exploit gaps in digital literacy, leaving merchants at risk.

To safeguard their businesses, traders are urging customers to switch to traditional payment methods like cash or card transactions. The decision has sparked discussions on the need for stronger cybersecurity measures and better awareness to restore confidence in digital platforms.

Local authorities and payment platforms are being called upon to address these concerns and ensure a safer environment for digital transactions. Until then, the shift away from UPI highlights the pressing need to balance technological advancement with robust security measures.
