Indian Railways Completes DPR for Railway Line Connecting India and Bhutan

Indian Railways has successfully completed the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a 69.04 km railway line connecting Kokrajhar in Assam with Gelephu in Bhutan. This strategic rail link aims to enhance trade, connectivity, and cultural ties between the two neighboring countries.

The proposed railway line is expected to boost economic activities in the region, benefiting local businesses and improving tourism prospects. Once completed, it will be Bhutan's first-ever railway connection, strengthening diplomatic and infrastructural cooperation between India and Bhutan.

The project aligns with India's "Neighborhood First" policy and Bhutan's vision for enhanced connectivity. Further steps, including approvals and funding arrangements, are awaited before the construction phase begins.
