India's Public Electric Vehicle Charging Network Grows to 26,367 Stations as Govt. Expands EV Infra Push

India's electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem is witnessing rapid growth, with the number of public charging stations reaching 26,367 as of 2024. This expansion aligns with the government's aggressive push to enhance EV infrastructure, making electric mobility more accessible and convenient for consumers.

The Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Heavy Industries have introduced multiple initiatives, including subsidies under the FAME-II scheme and relaxed land-use policies for charging stations. Major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru have seen significant installations, while highways and smaller towns are also witnessing development to support long-distance EV travel.

With increased private sector participation and policy-driven momentum, India's EV infrastructure is expected to expand further, promoting sustainable mobility and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
