Tata Group Seeks 80 Acres More to Expand Dholera Semiconductor Chip Plant
Tata Group is reportedly seeking an additional 80 acres of land to expand its upcoming semiconductor chip manufacturing facility in Dholera, Gujarat. This expansion is part of the company's broader ambition to strengthen India's semiconductor ecosystem and reduce reliance on imports.
The Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test (TSAT) plant, set up with an investment of over ₹91,000 crore, is expected to boost India's chip production capabilities. The additional land would help scale up operations, accommodate advanced manufacturing technologies, and enhance the plant’s production capacity.
Dholera, with its infrastructure and government incentives, is emerging as a key hub for semiconductor manufacturing in India. The Tata Group’s investment aligns with the Indian government's push to make the country a global semiconductor hub, ensuring self-reliance in critical electronics components.
The expansion signals Tata’s long-term commitment to the semiconductor sector, which is crucial for industries like electronics, automotive, and telecom. With this move, India takes another step toward strengthening its position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
