Uttar Pradesh Likely to Get 248 km Water Transport Route on the Yamuna River

Uttar Pradesh is set to witness a significant boost in its waterway infrastructure with a proposed 248 km-long water transport route on the Yamuna River. This ambitious plan aims to directly connect the Kanpur-Bundelkhand region to the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna in Prayagraj, enhancing connectivity and trade opportunities.

The initiative is expected to improve transportation efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and promote eco-friendly movement of goods and passengers. Once operational, the waterway will provide an alternative transport mode, easing pressure on road and rail networks. The project aligns with the government’s vision of enhancing inland water transport and boosting regional economic growth.

Officials are currently assessing the feasibility and technical aspects of the project, with further developments anticipated in the coming months.
