Around 80% Farmers in Maharashtra Will Get Free Electricity by December 2026: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently announced a major initiative aimed at supporting the state’s agrarian community. Speaking at a public event, Fadnavis stated that around 80% of farmers in Maharashtra will receive free electricity by December 2026.

This move is part of the government's broader strategy to strengthen rural infrastructure and reduce the financial burden on farmers. Fadnavis emphasized that the initiative would not only ease irrigation costs but also promote sustainable agricultural practices.

The government plans to implement this through expanded solar power projects and improved electricity distribution systems in rural areas. “We are committed to ensuring that the backbone of our economy—our farmers—are empowered and supported,” Fadnavis said.

The announcement has been welcomed by various farmer organizations, who see it as a positive step towards long-term agricultural reform and rural development.
