Union Govt. Releases Over Rs 4,200 Crore to Andhra Pradesh for Amaravati Capital Project

In a significant move aimed at boosting infrastructure development, the Union Government has released over ₹4,200 crore to Andhra Pradesh for the Amaravati capital city project. The funds are expected to accelerate the long-delayed development of the state's planned capital, which has seen limited progress in recent years due to financial and political hurdles.

The release of funds comes as part of the central government's commitment made during the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014. Amaravati was designated as the new capital after the separation of Telangana, and massive investments were proposed for its development.

Officials stated that the funds would be utilized for building core infrastructure, including roads, government complexes, and utilities. The state government has welcomed the decision, stating that it will revive stalled works and bring momentum to the capital city’s growth.

This financial assistance is expected to give a much-needed push to the Amaravati project, which has remained in limbo amidst controversies and shifting policy priorities.
