India to Invest $10 Billion in 112 Oil Tankers by 2040

India has announced a strategic plan to invest $10 billion by 2040 to acquire 112 domestically-built oil tankers. The move aims to strengthen the country's energy transport infrastructure and reduce dependence on foreign-owned vessels.

By expanding its domestic fleet, India seeks to enhance energy security, support local shipbuilding industries, and gain greater control over crude oil transportation. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader push for self-reliance in critical sectors.

The investment is expected to generate thousands of jobs and foster technological development in the maritime sector.
