Indian Navy to Get Five Next-Gen Corvettes Under ₹25,000 Crore ‘Make in India’ Boost

In a major push for indigenous defence production, the Indian Navy is set to acquire five next-generation corvettes at a cost of ₹25,000 crore under the 'Make in India' initiative. Approved by the Defence Acquisition Council, the project will significantly enhance the Navy’s coastal and deep-sea warfare capabilities.

These stealth corvettes will be heavily armed with advanced sensors, weapons, and combat management systems. Designed for multi-role operations including anti-surface, anti-submarine, and anti-air warfare, they will bolster India's maritime dominance in the Indo-Pacific region.

The warships will be built by Indian shipyards, marking a big step towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing and creating substantial employment in the sector. This development reflects India's commitment to modernizing its naval fleet with cutting-edge indigenous technology.
