Maharashtra Clears Rs 95,790-Crore Dharavi Redevelopment Plan

The Maharashtra government has officially approved the master plan for the ambitious Dharavi redevelopment project, estimated at Rs 95,790 crore. One of the largest urban renewal initiatives in India, the project aims to transform Asia’s biggest slum into a modern residential and commercial hub.

The redevelopment will be led by the Adani Group, which won the bid in 2022. The plan includes constructing new housing units, upgrading infrastructure, and improving sanitation and connectivity. Around one million residents stand to benefit from better living conditions and formal housing.

With state approval now secured, work on the massive project is expected to accelerate, marking a crucial step toward reshaping Mumbai’s urban landscape.
