Brazil Eyes India’s Akash Air Defense System: Secretary East

Brazil has expressed interest in procuring India’s indigenous Akash air defense system, according to Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs, P. Kumaran. Speaking during a diplomatic engagement, Kumaran highlighted growing defense ties between India and Brazil, noting that talks are underway to explore opportunities for cooperation in missile systems and other military technologies.

The Akash system, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is a medium-range surface-to-air missile capable of targeting aircraft and drones up to 30 km away. Brazil's interest marks a significant development in India’s defense exports push, aligning with its goal of becoming a major player in the global arms market.
