Massive Rail Manufacturing Push: 50 Amrit Bharat, 50 Namo Bharat, and 100 MEMU Trains Announced
In a significant boost to India’s railway modernization, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced the manufacturing of 50 Amrit Bharat trains, 50 Namo Bharat trains, and 100 MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) trains. This large-scale initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance passenger experience, increase rail connectivity, and modernize infrastructure.
Amrit Bharat trains will offer improved amenities and comfort for long-distance travelers, while Namo Bharat trains are India’s new-generation semi-high-speed trains under the RRTS (Regional Rapid Transit System). The MEMU trains, widely used for regional and suburban transport, are set to play a crucial role in decongesting road traffic and offering efficient short-distance rail options.
This announcement aligns with the Indian Railways' vision of building a faster, cleaner, and more passenger-friendly rail network across the country.
