Starlink Capped at 2 Million Connections in India

Elon Musk’s satellite internet venture, Starlink, has been granted a license to operate in India but with a strict cap of 2 million user terminals. The Department of Telecommunications has set this upper limit as part of its regulatory framework.

Starlink aims to provide high-speed internet access—up to 200 Mbps—across remote and underserved areas in the country. While the service holds promise for bridging the digital divide, the user cap could restrict its broader expansion in the Indian market.
