Imphal Set to Join National Rail Network

The long-awaited Jiribam–Imphal railway line is nearing completion and will soon connect Manipur’s capital, Imphal, to India’s national rail network.

This ambitious project, spanning challenging hilly terrains and featuring multiple tunnels and bridges, is one of the most significant infrastructure developments in the Northeast. Once operational, it will not only enhance connectivity and reduce travel time but also boost trade, tourism, and socio-economic growth in the region. The new link is expected to transform Imphal into a more accessible hub, bridging it closer with the rest of the country.
