India Achieves 125 GW Solar Energy Capacity, the 3rd Largest Producer in the World

India has reached a major milestone by achieving 125 gigawatts (GW) of installed solar energy capacity, making it the third-largest solar energy producer in the world, after China and the United States. This accomplishment highlights India’s rapid progress in renewable energy and its strong commitment to reducing carbon emissions.

Over the past decade, India has expanded its solar infrastructure through large-scale solar parks, rooftop installations, and rural electrification projects. Government initiatives like the National Solar Mission, PLI (Production Linked Incentive) scheme, and solar park programs have been key drivers of this growth.

With this achievement, India is moving steadily toward its 2030 target of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity, reaffirming its role as a global leader in clean energy transition and sustainable development.
