India’s Tallest Dam to Rise in Arunachal Pradesh
India is set to construct its tallest dam at 278 meters in Dibang, Arunachal Pradesh. The Dibang Multipurpose Project aims to generate over 2,880 MW of hydroelectric power while providing flood control benefits. Once completed, it will surpass the height of the Tehri Dam, becoming a landmark in the country’s hydro-infrastructure. The project is expected to boost local development, improve connectivity, and strengthen India’s renewable energy capacity, though it has also raised environmental and social concerns that authorities are addressing through careful planning.
