Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that India will begin domestic production of fighter jet engines starting next year — a major milestone in the country’s journey toward self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
The initiative aims to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and strengthen the “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” missions. The indigenous engine program is expected to power next-generation aircraft and enhance India’s strategic and technological capabilities.
Rajnath Singh highlighted that collaborations with leading global aerospace firms and Indian defence research institutions are in advanced stages, ensuring high-quality and cutting-edge technology for the Indian Air Force.
