Hyundai to Build First India Shipyard in Tamil Nadu

 


South Korean shipbuilding giant HD Hyundai has announced plans to establish its first-ever shipyard in India, selecting Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu as the strategic location.

The project marks a major boost for India’s maritime manufacturing ambitions, promising world-class shipbuilding capabilities, advanced marine technology, and significant employment opportunities in the region.

The upcoming facility is expected to strengthen India’s position in the global shipbuilding ecosystem, enhance coastal infrastructure, and attract further international investment into Tamil Nadu’s fast-growing industrial corridor.
