Varanasi has witnessed an unprecedented tourism surge in 2025, welcoming a record 146.97 million visitors, the highest footfall ever for the ancient city. 

The spiritual capital of India continues to draw pilgrims, domestic tourists, and international travelers drawn by its timeless ghats, historic temples, and deep cultural heritage. Improved infrastructure, better connectivity, and large-scale religious and cultural events have further boosted visitor numbers.
