India and Russia have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at boosting cooperation in the port and shipping sector. The agreement was formalised after summit talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is on a two-day visit to New Delhi to strengthen strategic and economic ties amid ongoing Western sanctions on Moscow.

During a joint press briefing, PM Modi described Russia as a “trusted friend,” highlighting the importance of expanding collaboration in key infrastructure and trade-linked areas. The new MoU is expected to enhance connectivity, streamline maritime logistics, and support long-term trade growth between the two nations.
